Overview: The Lemon Plant, scientifically known as Citrus limon, commonly referred to as Nimboo, is a versatile and attractive fruit-bearing tree. It is prized for its fragrant flowers, glossy green leaves, and, of course, its tangy, yellow fruit. This plant can be grown both indoors and outdoors, making it a delightful addition to any garden or home.

Key Features:

  • Fragrant white flowers
  • Glossy, dark green leaves
  • Tangy, yellow lemons

Care Guide:

Light: Prefers full sun. Ensure the plant receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal growth and fruit production.

Watering: Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering in winter.

Soil: Well-draining, slightly acidic soil. A mix of potting soil with added sand or perlite works well.

Temperature & Humidity: Thrives in temperatures between 70-85°F (21-29°C). Protect from frost and cold drafts. Prefers moderate to high humidity. Indoor plants benefit from occasional misting or a humidifier.

Fertilization: Feed with a balanced citrus fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in winter.

Pruning: Prune to maintain shape, remove dead or damaged branches, and encourage new growth. Prune after fruiting or in early spring.

Pests & Diseases: Watch for pests such as aphids, spider mites, and scale. Treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil if necessary. Ensure good air circulation and proper watering to prevent fungal diseases.

Size & Growth:

  • Mature Height: 6-10 feet (can be kept smaller with pruning)
  • Mature Spread: 3-6 feet
  • Growth Rate: Medium

Usage: Ideal for indoor decoration in bright, sunny spots such as sunrooms or patios. Outdoors, it can be grown in gardens, containers, or as part of a citrus orchard. The fruit is used in culinary applications, from flavoring dishes to making lemonade.

Additional Information:

Origin: Native to Asia, widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide.

Toxicity: Non-toxic to pets and humans, but the fruit’s acidity can cause stomach upset if consumed in large quantities.

Fun fact: Lemon trees can produce fruit year-round in the right conditions, with peak harvest times in the winter and spring. The blossoms of the lemon tree are highly fragrant and can fill a room with a pleasant citrus scent.

Pot: The actual pot may vary from the product image.
